Danny Herman Watson

Danny Herman Watson was born April 1, 1946 in Moss, TN and he passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville at the age of 77. 

Danny was the son of Arthur Cleo Watson and Melissa Florence McLerran Watson.  He worked for Delta Airlines from 1972 until his retirement in 1995.  He was a 1964 graduate of Celina High School and a 1968 graduate of MTSU with a BS degree.  Danny was a standout athlete at Celina High School and played collegiate basketball at Walker College in Jasper, AL and MTSU in Murfreesboro, TN.  He enjoyed sharing his basketball knowledge and wisdom to the younger generations of student athletes.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Cleo Watson who passed away on June 25, 1977, mother, Melissa Florence Watson who passed away on August 30, 2005 and brother Ranford Cleo Watson who passed away on June 23, 2017.

Survivors include son, Troy C. Watson; daughter, Traci Watson (Scott Burleyson ) Davenport; brothers, Thomas R. (Faye) Watson and Robert L. (Patricia) Watson; grandchildren, Taylor M. Davenport, Shelbie L. Davenport, Hunter S. Watson, Parker J. Watson and Cole R. Watson.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2024, 1-4 pm with a service beginning at 4 pm in the Chapel of Clay County Funeral Home.
