Floyd Cornell Scott, age 82, was born on December 9, 1941, and passed away at home on April 25, 2024 with his wife, Linda, at his side.
Cornell was born in a small cabin on Turkey Neck Bend, KY to Paul and Elsie Scott. He graduated from Cumberland County High School in 1959. After graduation, Cornell moved to Indiana and worked at various jobs, but his heart remained on Pea Ridge and farming. Finally in the early 90’s he followed his heart and moved back to Pea Ridge. He worked at Cumberland River Hospital in purchasing and farming. He was happiest when he was working with his cows or working in the hay field. He was a long-time member of the Soil Conservation Board.
Cornell was proceeded in death by his parents, one daughter and son-in-law Linda and Danny Cox, two brothers Jackie Woodrow Scott and Timmie Scott, and one sister Patricia Hulsey.
Cornell is survived by his wife Linda Raines Scott, two daughters Amanda Craighead (Matt) of Celina, TN, and Cindy Clayton (Donnie) of Indianapolis, IN. Two Stepsons Samuel York (Beth) and Joshua York. Grandchildren Casey Danner, Michael Clayton, and Ember Craighead. Step-Grandchildren Zayden York, Zaxtyn York, Lakin Raines, and Corbin Raines along with several great grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother Terry Scott (Diedra), sister-in-law Paulette Scott, as well as several nieces, nephews, friends, and family survive.
Visitation for Cornell will be held on Saturday from 10 AM to 9 PM, Sunday from 9 AM to 9 PM and again on Monday from 8 AM until time of services at 10 AM. Funeral Services for Mr. Cornell will be held on Monday at 10 AM in the chapel of Clay County Funeral home with burial to follow in the Williams Cemetery.
