Mayford Haskell Holt

Mayford Haskell Holt was born April 30, 1932, in Hilham, TN and he passed away on

Sunday, August 18, 2024, at Livingston Regional Hospital at the age of 92.

He was the son of Andrew Wolford Holt and Alcie Annie Cherry Holt. He met the love of his life, 

Ms. Georgia Mae Fikes Holt and they married on November 6, 1954 in Cookeville, TN. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Indianapolis, IN and welcomed their two sons, who they adored. It was there Mayford started his impressive career as a mechanic at Wabash Ford.

Mayford was known for his mechanical ability and being able to fix anything. He worked on Ford motors, mostly; however, his skill set was robust. He fixed or "tinkered" with things big and small - anything from a chainsaw to a tractor. It seems the Lord blessed him with a great ability that he used to provide for his family. He kept three Ford trucks running, well, until the day he died. The Holts moved back to Baptist Ridge Road in Hilham, TN in the late 1960s. They built a sturdy brick home and opened their doors to friends and family often. Mayford humbly served the Lord and walked with him daily. It was apparent that Christ was his focus. He would often turn a casual conversation into one about his Lord and Savior. He blessed many with his faithful conversations. 

Preceded in death by his parents, wife: Georgia Mae Holt; sons: Ronald Dale Holt, and Daryl Lawton Holt; brothers: Larma Holt, Commer Holt, Johnnie Holt, Leon Holt, and Buford Holt; sisters: Lola Holt Ayers, Versie Holt Fikes, and Lizzie Holt Langford. 

Survivors include his nieces: Kathy Holt of Whitestown, IN, Joy Langford of Hilham, TN, Barbara Ann Brown of Nashville, TN, and Marlene Dickman of Fort Walton, Florida; nephews: Steve Holt of Celina, TN and Alan Holt of Dalton, IN.

 Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, from 4:30 pm until 7:30 pm in the chapel of Clay County Funeral Home. Visitation will be held again on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, from 9 am to 10 am at Clay County Funeral Home with funeral services immediately following at 10 am with Pastor Eric Copas officiating. Burial will follow at the McDonald Cemetery in Hilham, TN
